Nursery Practitioner

We are currently seeking 2 passionate, hardworking and committed full time level 2 or 3 Nursery practitioners to work within the team promoting high standards of care and education inclusively for all the children in our care. A sound knowledge of the Early Years Foundation stage is essential with experience of being a key person.

 Purpose of role

  • Promote high standards of quality within the nursery regarding the environment and  resources for children, experiences offered to children and planning and record keeping.
  • Assist in the implementation of ‘The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum’.
  • Promote and facilitate partnership with parents/carers and other family members.
  • Support the development of good practice with regard to special educational needs, disabilities and inclusion.
  • Ensure that children are kept safe and that staff understand and when necessary follow Child Protection Procedures
  • Ensure that the nutritional needs of the children are met and that Food Safety Regulations are complied with.
  • Work with advisory teachers, health professionals, local Sure Start programs as appropriate
  • Develop and maintain highly professional working relationships with relevant Local Authority Departments, OFSTED and other agencies.
  • Remain abreast of current developments in childcare and education policy and practice.
  • Act as a Key Person, supporting a group of children, liaising closely with parents/carers, supporting each child’s emotional wellbeing and model this to other staff members and support them in this role.

Kitchen Assistant

We are currently looking for a Kitchen Assistant to support our Nursery Cook in the Kitchen for 20 hours per week 10:30am – 2:30pm Monday to Friday.
Purpose of role

To maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen.  To support the cook in the preparation of food, in line with agreed business menus, and cleaning of kitchen equipment.

Key Responsibilities

–          To distribute clean equipment to the rooms.

  • To maintain adequate stores and food stuffs in appropriate storage conditions.
  • To ensure the kitchen and all kitchen equipment is kept clean and tidy.
  • To ensure all crockery and utensils are washed-up, using the dishwasher as appropriate.
  • To clean and defrost fridge and freezer as necessary.
  • Set up crockery, cutlery and serving utensils on the trolleys ready for lunch
  • Deliver the trolleys to the appropriate rooms ensuring dietary requirements are met and communicated to the room
  • Collect trolleys from rooms after lunch
  • To perform other cleaning duties as instructed by nursery cook
  • To remove waste from the kitchen and clean bins as required
  • Support in food ordering and storage
  • Fill in cleaning schedules and report any problems to management
  • To carry out any additional tasks as required by the nursery cook or management
  • To follow Safeguarding Policies at all times reporting in a timely manner ( on the same day and ideally within the hour) any incidents regarding the children to the Nursery Manager
